We are off to the Sporades Islands in the Aegean, an area of Greece we are unfamiliar with. Skiathos where we are flying to is a bit touristy, probably as it has 50 sandy beaches which seems amazing as the island is only 7 miles long and 4 wide. The holiday trade means it is easy to get there but after a three night stay we are catching a ferry to Alonnisos which is supposedly a lot quieter.
We will probably also visit Skopelos which was used for the film Mamma Mia, I have not seen the film but apparently lots of tourists visit the island in the hope of re-living the story.
Only the first three nights are booked so we will muddle along in our usual way.
If we find we don't like island life we can catch the ferry back to Volos on the mainland which is close to one of our favourite places in Greece.
